This course introduces trainees to the principles and practices of developing high-quality assessment items. It focuses on the design of valid, reliable, and fair test questions that measure knowledge, clinical reasoning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Trainees will learn how to write different types of assessment items, especially multiple-choice questions and case-based items, while avoiding common item-writing flaws. The course also covers item analysis, and basic quality assurance in test construction.
